Resources
A few people have asked what resources and tools I use. I’ll keep updating this list the more stuff I try out and like.
Disclaimer: I do get a small commission from these links, but wouldn’t list them if I didn’t use them myself and weren’t happy with the products.
Firstly a web host, to host this marvelous site and make sure it doesn’t crash
The one I use is HostGator. Nice cheap hosting and I’ve never had any problems with them at all. I’ve heard that they are very quick to fix problems if they do ever arise. If you are thinking about using them you can email me (contact@wezwanders.com) and I can create a coupon for you, giving you 25% off
Domain names. Well I usually buy mine before I get someone to host them, it usually ends up being cheaper that way. I have gotten the majority of the domains I’ve bought over the years through GoDaddy and they’ve been fine and fairly cheap for domain names. They can also host websites, but I haven’t tried them out, so I’m not sure how they are.
The theme I use for this site, and in fact a few other sites, is Thesis. It’s a DIY theme, more of a platform to create a theme yourself. It takes a bit of knowledge and time to get going with it, and costs a little bit, but the options you have are amazing. You can set up your theme in almost unlimited ways, and the developer option on their website lets you use Thesis across multiple websites and blogs.
Smugmug is who I use as a base to sell my photos on my photography website and I also use it to host a lot of my larger photos so it doesn’t slow down my blog any
Again email me (contact@wezwanders.com) if you are interested because I can do a coupon to save you $5 (every bit helps).
The banner. I love my new banner. A good friend of mine, Dave made it. If you would like him to make you a banner also, email me (contact@wezwanders.com) and I might be able to convince him to make you one. (I’m not sure on his prices sorry).
My Camera. I love my camera, given me lots of joy over the years. Its a Canon 500D, or Rebel T1i in USA. Below is a picture of one, and a link if you want to purchase one. It’s about the middle of the range camera, and getting on in years. Soon I hope to upgrade to the Canon 5D Mark III (also pictured below).
