Today I’m talking with Cailin O’Neil, from the website Travel Yourself. A Canadian from Nova Scotia, Cailin is travelling the world, making videos in an attempt to star in her own travel TV show. I recently got to meet Cailin in person, and is very friendly and has a great personality and passion for filmmaking. You can follow Cailin on Twitter here.
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do.
I am a Canadian travel, video and food blogger, trying to live the dream and travel as much as possible. When not traveling I work in the Film and TV industry doing freelance jobs as a Production Coordinator.
How long have you been doing filming and blogging?
I started making videos after I took a video course when I was 14 and have been doing it ever since, even majoring in Film in University. I have been blogging and making travel videos since 2009.
What has been your favourite place to visit, and to film at?
Hmmm impossible question. However I have been in Australia for the past month and this is one of my favourite countries. A couple weeks ago I took a train through the Outback and that was pretty awesome to film. I’ve also filmed at La Tomatina in Spain, I’ve filmed in Fiji, they were all great, but I would say most places I travel to are great in their own way.
Very exciting news, recently you have joined with a company in your hometown to release some of your travel TV show you made, how did you feel when you got that news?
Well I’ve been talking with them about this since at least October and we have been working on the new logo and website for the past few months so it’s been a gradual realization for me. However no matter what way it came about it’s still pretty awesome, and I’m really excited about it.
What plans can you share with us about your future videos along with this new partnership?
I wish I knew the answer to this myself. Expect my videos to start having a higher quality and I will be hopefully partnering up and getting some sponsors on board to help send me on more trips to make more content.
If you could travel anywhere in the world today, where would you go, and why?
If you had said just “anywhere” I would of said the moon, but since you are limiting me to this planet I would have to say somewhere in Asia or South America as I haven’t been to either yet. There are a million things I want to see and do so it is hard to just pin point one thing.
Thanks heaps Cailin for taking the time out of your day to answer a few questions for me. If you would like to see some of Cailin’s videos, check out her YouTube page, and follow Cailin on twitter for all the latest updates on Travel Yourself, and The Taste of Travel.
